Hello girls! Adeline here with a quick word on roots:

Have you ever wondered why you can’t just get over something? Or why you can’t seem to conquer a particular habit? Do you find yourself dwelling on things daily that you have been attempting to “cast on the Lord” for years? Do you find yourself in a sin-confess-sin-confess cycle, asking for forgiveness everyday yet knowing that given 24 hours you will be in the exact same place again? Does it sometimes seem like prayer just isn’t working? Maybe it’s because we aren’t getting to the root of why we think about what we think about or why we do the things that we do.

When we recognize our plaguing thoughts as a hole that God wants to fill in our hearts or a wound that he wants to heal, we can start taking the necessary steps toward healing and redemption. Our actions will eventually follow. This is the way to begin transformation. Start at the core; start at the root. Start by renewing your mind, by gaining an appreciation for the things that the Lord loves! This is the heart between Romans 12:2 which says: Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

I’m sure many, if not most, of you are familiar with this illustration: when you are weeding, if you just pull off the weed at the surface and neglect to pull out the root, its just going to grow back because the root is still imbedded and alive in the ground. It may look like its gone for a second, but give it a day; it’ll be back. If you, instead, remove the root, the weed is gone. It may take some more effort – its certainly harder; but the result is complete removal, not temporary hiddenness.

So if it seems like your sin and thoughts and obsessions keep coming back day after day, even after your attempt to get rid of them, maybe you’ve just been cutting off the top rather than pulling out the root. So, we are going to work at the roots, right? But more than that, we are going to plant something in its place. We are going to grow new roots. I want Ephesians 3:16-21 to be our prayer; it says: “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”

This is what this upcoming weekend is about! If you pray anything, pray this. Pulling up roots is pointless if there is only an empty hole left. If nothing else this year, pray that you will be rooted in God’s love.

The Restored Conference is a time to come and experience a new level of freedom. It is a place that you will hear testimonies from girls on staff at Wesley- we will be very real and raw about our struggles and what the Lord has brought us out of in our lives. It is a safe place to ask questions to receive prayer and to know that you are not alone in your struggles. In the past couple years during the Restored Conference, so many lives have been changed and the enemy has lost his power and authority as we bring struggles and strongholds into the light.

We welcome any and every woman who wants to come and experience more freedom and to hear about what the Lord has done and how he desires restoration in all of our lives. This year we are going to focus on Roots of Restoration- going deeper into root issues that the enemy uses to trap us in sin. There will be testimonies and teachings on how those roots manifest. We will speak truth into those lies and have an opportunity for you to start the process of uprooting lies that you may be living in and establishing a foundation of truth.

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-18
